Overthinking (Original)

I don't remember drawing this exactly, but I know how it happened: standing at the window looking out at the garden, sketchpad left there, coming back to it whenever I had a moment. A few sittings, not many — I tend to hyperfocus on these.

My head is a busy place. Not racing thoughts exactly — more that there's a lot in there, and often I can't find the words for it. My head doesn't really do words or pictures; that all happens outside of it. The words come when I'm talking to someone, and the pictures come on the paper. So I draw, and the drawing is where the thinking becomes something I can see.

The dots are all of it: thoughts, ideas, reactions to noise and sound and sensation, floating about and not settling. The circles and the lines are me putting some order on them, so they make sense.
