Art made from hedgerow and forest
A studio, workshops and handmade botanical inks on a farm near Bingham, Nottinghamshire.
I forage elderberries, oak galls and willow bark, turn them into ink, and draw what comes. The studio door is open Thursday to Sunday — come and watch, join a workshop, or just say hello.
Make ink from the elderberries in your hedge
A free recipe, exactly as I make it in the studio — the mess, the surprises, and what to do when it goes wrong. It comes with The Imperfect Circle, a letter each season about ink, drawing and slowing down. No noise, no schedule but nature's.
Lovely — the recipe is on its way. Welcome to the Circle.
One letter a season. Unsubscribe any time. (In the real build this joins the Substack.)
Ways in
Wherever you're starting from, there's a way into this.
And the door itself is free — open studio Thursday to Sunday at Pod 3, The Eco Centre, Home Farm, Screveton. Drop in, have a look, pick up a pencil if you fancy.
All prices include VAT.

Come and make something badly
"When did you last make something for no reason at all?"
If your week is all screens, targets and other people's deadlines — if you can't remember the last time you made something with your hands, for nobody, for no reason — I know that life from the inside. I was an actuary, then a teacher. Drawing circles, badly and daily, was what brought me back.
That's what this studio is for. Foraged ink, slow drawing, four seats at a time, no talent required — the wobble is the point. The door's open Thursday to Sunday. Come and see.
